“A Century of Coming Home” kicked off with the 26th Annual Mizzou Homecoming Blood Drive October 3 – 6 at the Hearnes Center. A new national record was set! 4,839 units of blood was collected surpassing the old record of 4,810 also set by Mizzou in 2001.

The big game against Iowa State is Saturday, October 15 at 1PM. Don’t miss our FREE Y107 Tiger Tailgate before the game from 11AM-1PM!

Columbia For Joplin is a grassroots effort to gather as many people as possible from the Columbia area for a work day in Joplin August 27th! The event is being organized by a group of Columbia-area Rotarians, but is open to all. So gather your friends and family, and gear up to lend a hand to fellow Missourians working to rebuild their community!

Register to participate at ColumbiaforJoplin.com.  There is a $10 registration fee to simply cover the cost of your t-shirt and lunch. 

The first 224 people registrants will receive FREE bus transporation to Joplin courtesy of The Crossing and White Knight Coach & Limo.  But all are welcome to drive themselves as well.  Everyone will meet at The Crossing Church before leaving that morning.  Check-in on August 27 for registered volunteers will be in Joplin beginning at 7 a.m. where they’ll distribute t-shirts and work assignments.  The work day will conclude at 4 p.m.

Mayor McDavid is issuing a proclamation that Saturday, August 27th is officially Columbia For Joplin Day.

Isle of Capri Casino Hotel Boonville hosted the MLE World Boneless Buffalo Wing Championship on May 7,  2011.  The 2010 competition featured Tim “Eater X” Janus of New York, NY defeating Ben Monson, of Twin Peaks, CA after a two minute overtime eat-off. Eater X ate 7 lbs 11.5 ounces and set a world record, making him the champion of boneless wing-eating.

Give the gift of life April 12 – 14!

The American Red Cross and the University of Missouri are teaming up once again to impact up to 4,500 lives! More than 1500 pints of blood are expected to be collected at this Spring’s Mizzou Blood Drive.  Because each pint can potentially help up to three patients, 4,500 lives could be touched.  The drive will be held at the University of Missouri Student Recreational Center on the following dates:

Wednesday, April 13th: 12PM to 8PM

Thursday, April 14th: 10AM to 6PM

Y107 welcomes the 49th Annual Ice Show, “Seasonal Vibes” to Washington Park Ice Arena in Jefferson City this Friday through Sunday (March 4 – 6)! Performances include a variety of solos, duets and group numbers given by participants of the Parks and Recreation lesson programs and members of the Jefferson City Figure Skating Club.

Show times: 7PM on Friday, March 4 and Saturday, March 5. Matinee performance at 2:30PM on Sunday, March 6.

Cost: $5 for adults and $3 for youth 17 and under.

Challenge yourself, challenge your friends and help raise awareness and funds to fight domestic violence!

What: STOmP Domestic Violence Bootcamp is organized by a group of friends and former students of ARC fitness instructor Karen Kahler who was killed last year along with her two daughters and her grandmother. It’s a 2 hour event of 4 different 20-minute sessions with 4 different instructors. Suitable for ALL fitness levels (but for adults only, no children under 12).  Participants who complete all four sessions will enter a drawing for special prizes such as a bicycle, a massage therapy session, Houlihan’s gift certificates and more.
